Elegance Through Symmetry

This thoughtfully designed bathroom and living area focus on balance, warmth, and luxurious simplicity. Every element of the layout and material selection was curated to bring a sense of comfort and sophistication, while cleverly addressing spatial constraints and optimizing storage. The result is a refined, serene space with intentional touches of opulence.

Project Scope & Objectives

The primary design goal was to elevate everyday living by thoughtfully balancing form and function, with symmetry and texture serving as key guiding principles. Across both the bathroom and living space, the design emphasizes clean lines, clearly defined personal zones, and refined finishes that enhance comfort while maintaining a sense of understated luxury.

In the bathroom, the focus was placed on drawer-only storage to maximize organization and ease of use, paired with a symmetrical double vanity that provides separate storage for each user. Warm finishes and carefully selected materials were introduced to elevate the atmosphere, creating a space that feels both functional and indulgent.

In the living room, a balanced and symmetrical layout was developed around the television to establish visual order and cohesion. The shelving was incorporated to shape the design while offering additional storage, and built-ins were contrasted against light walls and flooring to create clarity, depth, and a well-defined focal point within the space.

Challenges & Considerations

The layout of both rooms required careful spatial awareness and stylistic balance. In the bathroom, the absence of traditional upper cabinetry meant developing a smart, drawer-only storage solution that maintained ample functionality without sacrificing organization. At the same time, achieving material cohesion between the spaces—while allowing each room to retain its own identity—presented a design challenge. Finishes were thoughtfully selected to complement natural light and harmonize with the home’s existing flooring, ensuring a seamless yet distinctive result across both areas.

Solution & Implementation

Bathroom:

  • Custom vanity design with drawer-only configuration.
  • Two sinks, each flanked by dedicated drawer storage.
  • Symmetrical layout enhances visual calm and functional balance.
  • Warm, rift cut white oak with custom stain
  • Gold hardware and accessories introduce softness and elegance.

Living Room:

  • Painted built-in using beveled shaker-style doors.
  • Wood countertop acts as a divider between lower cabinets and upper shelves.
  • Open shelving and additional storage above the TV.
  • Shelves flank the central TV for structural dimension.
  • Gold hardware contrasts beautifully with the painted millwork.

Outcome & Results

The Rhine project exemplifies how restrained design and luxurious finishes can dramatically enhance both comfort and usability. The bathroom vanity combines richness and symmetry in a compact layout, while the living room millwork offers curated storage without visual heaviness. Custom placements and finish details reflect a high level of craft and customization.

Key Takeaways & Highlights

Symmetry brings a sense of calm and order to both spaces, establishing visual balance and clarity throughout the design. Gold hardware paired with warm wood tones introduces a layer of luxury without feeling excessive, while the drawer-only vanity offers a fresh, modern approach to bathroom storage. Elevated millwork further enhances the design, balancing built-in functionality with architectural sensitivity and refinement.
