This downtown Toronto condo renovation, completed in partnership with SG Cunningham, was all about maximising storage and seating within a compact footprint. With a growing family and limited space, the design needed to be clever, inviting, and efficient — making the most of vertical opportunities and natural light. The result is a kitchen and dining area that feels warm, tailored, and highly functional, with thoughtful details and layered textures throughout.
This custom kitchen and banquette design was thoughtfully developed for a Toronto condo, where maximizing function within a smaller footprint was essential. Storage was carefully optimized without compromising flow, ensuring the space remains open and easy to navigate. The windows were embraced as a design opportunity, with open shelving integrated to add both storage and visual interest while maintaining access to natural light. A custom banquette was created to provide comfortable seating with flexibility to grow alongside the family’s needs. Warm colours and natural finishes introduce a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, while custom wood and metal shelving positioned in front of the window adds a layered mix of materials and texture, enhancing the overall character of the space.
Working within the constraints of a Toronto condo required space-conscious planning and creative use of natural light. With limited wall space and a desire for expanded seating, the design had to deliver on both functionality and atmosphere. The shelving in front of the window also needed to strike a balance between offering storage and preserving the flow of daylight through the space.
This project blends compact functionality with high-impact design choices, bringing comfort and style into a small footprint:
Despite its smaller scale, the Belsize kitchen now offers ample storage, comfortable seating, and a sense of calm sophistication. The mix of open and closed storage, layered materials, and thoughtful seating ensures that the space meets both practical needs and aesthetic goals. For a growing family in the heart of Toronto, it delivers style, comfort, and flexibility — all within a compact urban footprint.
This project proves that small-space design can still offer big impact. The banquette with integrated storage, custom shelving solutions, and warm finishes elevate the function and feel of the entire space. With collaboration from SG Cunningham, the design turned constraints into opportunities — achieving a kitchen that feels open, personal, and full of character.
